RENTER Households experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19, who live in Kansas City, MO, and have income at/below 80% of area median income are eligible for up to 12 months of RENT and/or UTILITY assistance. **Multiple agencies are administering assistance through the application portal. You will be assigned to one of these agencies. It may take 6-8 weeks or more for your application to be processed as thousands of households are applying for assistance.***

Johnson County, KS Rent, Utility & Prescription Assistance

MLM has limited funds available for at-risk and homeless households for rent/utility/mortgage/hotel for residents of Johnson County, KS. Assistance with prescription medications, eyeglasses, dental, and other medical supplies is currently available, subject to income guidelines. Paper applications for one month of general rent, utility and/or mortgage assistance may be picked up in person Monday-Friday, 10-12 or 1-3, or call 816.454.5295 for an appointment for a paper application. Subject to fund availability. Applications for multiple months of rent/utility assistance for Clay/Platte County households impacted by COVID-19 may be completed through MHDC at https://www.mohousingresources.com/safhr.


Northland Homelessness Prevention Assistance – 1100 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64118

Households at-risk of homelessness, with income below 50% of AMI, may be eligible for up to 6 months of rent/utility arrears assistance, forward rent, or financial assistance to move into a more habitable unit. Households must opt-into participation in homelessness prevention case management.

Clay County Children's Services Fund Rent and Utility Assistance

By appointment only. Must live in Clay County, MO  AND have children age 19 and younger in the household. Assistance is targeted to households experiencing or at-risk of homelessness or housing instability. Subject to funding availability. Call 816.285.3137 to learn more about CCCSF assistance.

Jackson County Rent, Utility, & Mortgage Assistance – 3031 Holmes Street, Kansas City, MO 64109

Paper applications for 1 month rent assistance, or water fund assistance may be picked up from MLM the first week of each month. Assistance is limited to ONE month of rent and KC Water Funds assistance only currently. ​
