The MLM Christmas Store, held December 7thy-12th, 2020  is one of the largest gift-giving programs in the Greater Kansas City area.  The store provides over 1000 families with a joyful and dignified Christmas experience. This year due to Covid-19 families will not be allowed to shop, families will provide a wish list and items will be picked for them by volunteers. Each family member should expect a coat, clothing, and a gift. Each household should expect a small kitchen appliance, blanket or quilt, a gift card to help purchase their meal, cookies, and a Bible or devotional. 


Participating families must apply at MLM in October (exact dates and times will be published in the fall)  and meet the following requirements:

  • Live within MLM's service area
  • Not enrolled in another Christmas program such as the Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund
  • Income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level:
    • 1-person household = $19,140 a year
    • 2-person household = $25,860 a year
    • 3-person household = $32,580 a year
    • 4-person household = $39,300 a year
    • 5-person household = $46,020 a year

Participants may pick up an application starting August 17th, 2020 at Metro Lutheran Ministry's main location (3031 Holmes) Monday-Friday, 8:30am-11am. Applications may be dropped off Sept 1st, 2020 through Oct 31st, 2020 at the same location as above Monday-Friday 8:30am-11am.

  • Picture ID for head of household
  • Proof of income for last 30 days 
  • Proof of address (current piece of mail)
