Volunteers help approximately 850  families, or about 3,000 individuals, to shop the MLM Christmas Store. Volunteers are needed for setting up and preparing,  the store (Dec. 3, 4, and 5). Christmas Store "Elves" walk through the store with guests and help them shop (Dec. 6-8). We also need volunteers to provide meals for our volunteers each day (Dec. 4-8).

The 2017 Christmas Store will take place Sunday, December 3 – Saturday, December 9 at Immanuel Lutheran (1700 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO 64111).

Note: In past years, Christmas Store Application Taking has been a volunteer activity. In 2017 application taking will be handled by MLM staff.  In addition, Christmas basket delivery to the homebound will be handled by our regular monthly delivery volunteers this year.

Christmas Store Volunteer List

The Christmas Store has been in existence as long as MLM has…since 1971. It started with only three families and has grown to make Christmas possible for 850 Kansas City families, or about 3,000 individuals annually. Working throughout the year, money is raised through special events to purchase gifts.  Local corporations contribute, and donations are received from area churches and organizations. The store provides gifts, bibles, blankets, clothing, coats, and food and is one of the largest gift-giving programs in the Greater Kansas City area. Each family is pre-screened to meet low-income guidelines to ensure that they are not helped by any other Christmas store. Individuals and families who are served are at or below 150% of the federal poverty level. This is MLM’s largest volunteer event and there are many ways you can serve!

We need many “elves” to help make Christmas merrier for hundreds of Kansas City families.
